Happy New Year from Chile
I cannot believe it has only been two months since we moved here. I miss you all terribly. However, we are truly enjoying our adventure.
I am sure you are wondering.....how is your Spanish Cindy??? It would be very difficult to respond because there is so much life experience going on that sometimes I don't realize how much I am progressing. It is always so situational, followed by much laughter. I just have to laugh it off or I would be humiliated if I thought about it too long.
I am taking Spanish classes, but life is forcing me to retrieve the vocabulary in whatever format possible to get by.
For most of you that know us well you know that we don't really comprehend the usage of keys and locks. ..... Still don't.....but we are trying, really really trying.
We have locked ourselves out of our apartment a number of times. Once Buddy had to borrow a ladder and jump through our terrace window. The second I was pushing some large cardboard sheets into the hallway when the suction of the breeze blew the door shut; literally threw me into the hallway. No keys, no phone, no memory of Buddy's cell phone number and no money for the metro to get his keys. (I know what some of you are thinking and the answer is yes I had proper clothing on.......luckily) I had to go downstairs to the porter and tell him I had no llaves, no movil and that I did not conosco my esposo's numero. A couple chuckles later and they retrieved an emergency contact number and called Buddy. So a bit of humiliation, a phone call and a metro stop later all was well.
I assume this could get bothersome for Buddy if it weren't so darn entertaining. I feel everyday as though I am living in an "I Love Lucy" episode. I think I really am "Yo queiro Cindy"
We had a great time over Christmas and New Years, Chilean style of course. It doesn't matter where we go, eating only happens after 9:00 (after 12:30 on new Years Eve) and there is always always always dancing. Salsa of course. I have got to take some Salsa classes pronto. This gringo is muy mal at the dancing. Sad Sad Sad.
I have intermixed some pictures in this blog just to let you see our life a bit. Buddy has traded his cowboy look into a suave, dapper type. I like it.
A trip to a local vineyard.....fun fun fun.....wine wine wine.
And buddy posing at a mall decorated for Christmas. I know all of you are thinking I photo-shopped this picture because there is no way the Buddy you all know would be caught dead in a mall, right? Well I won lady's, he is shopping. Look closely and you will see he got his wings for he warm and giving gesture.
We miss you all. We are definitely having fun in Chile.
